Granelli 2025 - 2026

Welcome to Our Class – Banner in English

Our theme for this term is ‘Living Things’.

Pupils will begin to learn about living things and their habitats. Pupils will learn about a variety of plants and animals in their habitats, including micro-habitats. They will learn how animals obtain their food from plants and other animals, using the idea of a simple food chain, and explore different sources of food. Pupils will Identify that most living things live in habitats to which they are suited and describe how different habitats provide for the basic needs of different kinds of animals and plants, and how they depend on each other. Within each topic, pupils will explore music, textures, colour, and light. They will use their senses to explore each of these. We will focus on the pupil’s communication by allowing them to choose, ask for more and finished and share their likes and dislikes using their own communication method.

Maths

In Maths, We will be learning about position and direction by practising simple movements such as forwards, backwards, and turns, using clear instructions and practical activities. They will also explore time by recognising o’clock times and begin learning about money through coin recognition (1p, 2p, 5p, 10p), using real-life problem-solving in hands-on activities like a shop role-play to support understanding

English

In English this term, our class will be exploring stories linked to our overarching theme, including That’s my flower by Alice Hemming and Minibeasts. We will use Blank level questioning and Colourful Semantics to support understanding and sentence building, while engaging all the senses to create an immersive learning experience that brings stories to life and supports communication and early writing skills

Challenge

Our KS1 class will be learning about a range of animals, from familiar household pets to wildlife, and exploring where they live and how their habitats differ. They will also take part in a simple design project, where they will plan and create their own ideas linked to animals and their homes through hands-on activities.

Community

In Community this term, our KS1 class will be travelling back in time to explore dinosaurs, learning about what they looked like and the environments they lived in through engaging, hands-on activities. They will also take a trip around the world to discover animals in their habitats, from the icy Antarctic to the hot savannah and desert, helping them understand how different environments support different kinds of life.

Creativity

In Creativity, we will be exploring creativity by using their bodies to create music and rhythm, experimenting with clapping, stamping, and simple movement patterns. They will build confidence through fun, practical activities that encourage self-expression and develop their sense of beat and coordination.

Individuality

Our class will be practising fundamental movements in preparation for Sports Day, as well as developing their gymnastics and ball skills through a range of engaging activities. In PSHE, we will be learning about responsibility, helping children understand how to look after their belongings, follow rules, and make positive choices.
