Maths at Park Lane

At Park Lane, maths is taught through an adapted and highly personalised approach that ensures every child can access learning in a way that suits their individual needs. Our curriculum is designed to be flexible, meaningful and responsive, enabling all pupils to make progress at their own pace.

We assess learning through our adapted, personalised Lanes of Learning, which allow staff to identify each child’s starting point, celebrate their achievements, and plan next steps that are purposeful and ambitious. This approach ensures that every child receives the very best learning opportunities.

Our maths curriculum is organised into the following key areas:

  • Number & Place Value

  • Geometry

  • Measurement

  • Position

  • Statistics

  • Independent Maths Living Skills

Independent Maths Living Skills runs as a silver thread throughout our curriculum. These essential skills help prepare our children for adulthood by developing independence, confidence and practical understanding from an early age.

Across school, we use a wide variety of resources, strategies and practical tools to ensure lessons are adapted and accessible for all learners. This includes concrete materials, visual supports, real‑life objects, technology and sensory‑based learning experiences.

Our aim is to make mathematics meaningful, engaging and empowering—supporting every child to develop the skills they need for life.
