Reading

At Park Lane School we highly value reading and recognise the importance of developing reading for all of our learners, every child is considered to be a reader. We recognise the diversity of our students and their abilities in reading and therefore our students are offered a reading pathway to suit their individual needs. Through using our own extensive knowledge of our pupils and current research, we have devised four reading pathways.

Pathway One- Covers pre- requisite reading skills.

Pathway Two- Covers early reading skills and vocabulary progression.

Pathway Three- Covers sight reading- delivered through the See and Learn Programme

Pathway Four- Covers our Twinkl systematic phonics programme, which is based on Letters and Sounds

If you are not already aware of which pathway your child is on, please contact your child's class teacher or the English Co-ordinator- Andree Barnard and they will be able to help.

For more information on each pathway and for tips on how you can support your child with their reading, please click on the relevant drop down tab in the Reading folder. These tabs are password protected. All parents have been emailed the password but if you have any queries or need a reminder of the password please call the school office or contact your child's teacher.

Thank you.
