Parent Support

My name is Michelle Saxton and I have worked at Park Lane School for 12 years as a Teaching Assistant and latterly as a Parent Support Adviser (Mondays and Tuesdays).

I am here to offer any kind of support you might need. I can:

  • Attend meetings with you.
  • Help with form filling.
  • Suggest ways to access funding and benefits.
  • Make contact with other professionals and organisations on your behalf.
  • From time to time I will invite organisations into School to talk to parents about the services they offer.

In addition I am a trained Sleep Counsellor and can offer a programme of support individually tailored to yours and your child’s needs.

In conjunction with LDCAMHS I can deliver the Signpostsprogramme for parents who would like to build on their skills to deal with unwanted behaviours displayed by their children.

Sleep Counselling

The aim of sleep counselling is to support the families of children and young people who have a serious sleep problem. Families are asked to complete a questionnaire and sleep diary. I will then use this information to devise a personalised sleep programme. Support is ongoing for as long as the family wants.

The aim of the programme is to promote improved sleep patterns.

Signposts is a 6 week course which aims to help parents work out the reasons for their child’s behaviour and equip parents with the skills to change difficult behaviour whilst, at the same time, celebrating positive behaviour.
