Just to let you know a case of Coronavirus has been confirmed in the Macclesfield area. I can confirm it is not a young person. I will keep you informed of any news as I receive it.

Today we combined World Book Day with Fairtrade and held some sensory story sessions using Fairtrade foods. 

28th February 2020

A very big thank you to Quint for their donation of £5,600 towards the refurbishment of the hydrotherapy pool. Thank you to all the staff who helped raise this fantastic amount.

Snow is predicted overnight so please check website or Facebook for any updates regarding school. On the weather map it looks as though Macclesfield will get snow overnight. I am hoping it will be much the same as last night and will be gone by the morning!

Today we have had Wild Workshops in school. Pupils have been enthralled looking at bugs, snails and slugs through magnifying glasses and a magnifying camera. 

Have a good half term and look forward to seeing the pupils back in school on the 25th of February. Monday the 24th of February is an Inset Day.

Great week so far! Today we have had Gordon in to lead storytelling workshops.

Next week is Arts Week in school. The whole school is participating in a range of arts activities and we have some visitors coming into school to lead workshops for the pupils.

This year we have begun Supported Internships with 3 students doing extended work placements at Macclesfield Hospital. This is a quote from an email sent today from someone who went to observe them in work: "The interns were absolutely amazing, I could not believe how much more confident all 3 of them were!".

We have achieved Rights Respecting Schools-Bronze Award. Thank you to all staff involved in enabling school to achieve this award. Watch out for more news as we work towards our silver award.

Today we have our first whole school assembly of the New Year. It is about New Year Resolutions. In school we are all going to become "Global Warriors" in line with our curriculum theme this term.

A fabulous £1,239.77 was raised at our Christmas Fair on Saturday. Thank you to everyone who supported this event, in particular those parents and staff on the FOPLSS committee for their work in organising the Fair.

2nd December 2019

A very big Thank you to everyone who supported our Christmas Fair on Saturday. Thank you to those who donated items, attended on the day or helped on stalls. We are very lucky to have a special visit from Santa as well.Thank you to Macclesfield Brass Band who played some lovely Christmas carols while visitors were shopping.

Next big event is the Christmas Concert at Fallibroome Academy on the 11th of December. 10.30am

Rehearsals are well underway for the Christmas Concert. 

Christmas Clothing Day on Tuesday the 3rd in aid of the new Christies Centre being built in Macclesfield. This was the choice of our School Council.

19th November 2019

Well done to our 6th Form pupils who came 3rd today in an inter-schools sports event. Pupils went to Priestly College for the competition and represented the school really well. On Thursday our pupils in KS3 are going to compete at Priestly College so we all wish them good luck.

Our Children In Need event raised £85.86. Thanks to pupils and staff for joining in and donating to this appeal.

First meeting of our new School Council today. 8 keen members with 2 who are new to school this academic year. This group will be led by Wendy.

We have 3 6th Form students on Supported Internship placements in Macclesfield Hospital. They started in September 2019. Feedback from Workforce Development Lead: "The students are a credit to Park Lane School-their committment and enthusiasm has been noticed by many of our staff". I am very proud of them and all the pupils for their committment and enthusiasm.

Today we supported Jeans for Genes Day. Arighi class led a wonderful assembly about the fund raising event.They also asked each class to make something out of a pair of jeans. There were some wonderful ideas including coasters, head bands, pencil holders and cup holders. Well done to everyone.

Good luck to our 3 pupils who start their supported internship at Macclesfield District General Hospital today. They will be working in the restaurant, records and volunteer departments.

A very big thank you to the staff from Sainsburys who spent yesterday replanting and tidying our garden. It looks fantastic. Thanks also to Emma, James and Wendy who also gave up time to come and help out. 

Today I am meeting with the project manager to start planning the classrooms in our new building. Very exciting!

Everyone had a great time at the Leavers Prom last night. Lovely to see pupils, staff, parents, ex pupils and friends dancing and enjoying the night.

We had a lot of interest in the expansion plans with visits from parents, neighbours to the school and local councillors. They were all positive about the expansion and the plans for the design of the old Willows building.

Great news-the Summer Fair and BBQ raised £615.90 which will go towards the Hydrotherapy Pool refurbishment. Thank you to everyone who supported this event. 

This week pupils are taking part in a "Summer Splash" to raise money for the Hydrotherapy Pool fund.

A busy week! On Monday our 4 Leavers, Fatima,Molly, Libby-Ann and Joseph were in Chester Cathedral, at the Special School's Leavers Service, receiving their Records of Achievement. This was followed by afternoon tea with their families in a local hotel. Today has been Sports Day which was great fun! Fortunately we could hold the events inside so the "rain did not stop play"!

An amazing £210 was raised on Friday for MacMillan. Thanks to all parents, families, staff and Governors who sent in cakes and supported the afternoon event. Well done to Lower Sixth Form for serving hot drinks and Barnaby class for serving cakes.

We have a new all weather play surface and canopy off Granelli class, giving pupils more access to outside play, even when it is raining.

Pupils and staff are participating in the Jeans for Genes campaign this year. We are asking for all pupils and staff to wear jeans and to bring a £1 donation  which will then be sent to Jeans for Genes. Thank you for your support.

Welcome back to all pupils and their families. It was lovely to see so many smiling faces! A very warm welcome to our new pupils and their families. The opportunities they had to visit the school and meet the staff has helped them all settle in to their new classes quickly.

Tomorrow we begin our improved transition support for pupils with both pupils and staff joining their new classes until the end of term.

Our 6th Form Leavers will be heading off to Chester on Monday. We will be celebrating their achievements, alongside other special schools, in the Leavers Service at Chester Cathedral.

Mulbery Class are heading off to the Peak Wildlife Park today followed by camping overnight in school.

Wishing our sixth form pupils a great time as they head off to stay in Liverpool for 3 days on their Residential.

Thank you to Hurdsfield Primary School who held a Cake Sale in aid of our hydrotherapy pool fund. They raised £530.00.

Great afternoon at our "European Market" with each class making food from their chosen European country. There was food, music and flags from different countries.

Today we are celebrating the Royal Wedding with a special lunch followed by enterainment including a performance by our Samba band and some Country dancing.

Thank you to FOPLSS for paying for the entertainment during our Royal Wedding celebrations. Thank you to Louise for our special lunch. Thank you to all classes for making button holes, place cards, table centre pieces, bunting and a wedding cake. It was a really fun afternoon involving the whole school.
